Logan is ready for some drawing action nowadays! We bought some non-toxic crayons from Melissa & Doug, and set him up in the playroom. He does have a tendency to find, eh, alternative canvases like the couch and my jeans--but for the most part he sticks to the paper :) Oh, the fat lip is from when he fell at the park. No biggie.

Baby's first california roll

So daddy decided to rake the leaves from last fall today--it's finally spring! Afterwards we had sushi from our favorite sushi dig (er, the only sushi dig in town). Logan decided to eschew the broccoli and tuna fish for one of Rach's california rolls. I think we have a new favorite food!

Easter weekend

Well, we had some friends over for Easter weekend, and one of the highlights, aside from a few good games of Killer Bunnies, was Logan's crazymad hair. He also attempted to eat strawberries, but mostly he succeeded in smashing them on the table with his fist (not seen here).

Logan had a double ear-infection this night, but we didn't know until the following morning when the 102.4 fever hit. Yuck! But we got him to the doc and he's feeling better now, though that second bicuspid is breaking through...

Various Florida vids

Here are some vids from Logan's trip to Florida to visit his Nana and Pop-pop. Logan had loads of fun--as did Nana and Pop-pop. His Aunt Nancy and Cousin Kasey also went--we all slept in the same room (sort of). Nana and Pop-pop made food every night, which was greatly appreciated. Logan stuffed his face with broccoli most of the time.

We also went to visit Rach's Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Murray. Murray is 95 years old, and still going strong.

We also went to visit Rach's Aunt Janice and Uncle Alfie while we were down in FL. Logan had a good time outside looking at all the palm trees and foliage. He especially enjoyed the new Elmo laptop they gave him. Very cool.

Logan visited his Nana and Pop-pop in January. They got to see him in person for the first time--and got to see him on his first birthday! Here we are all opening presents. The chirping in the background is just Doug--er, Nana's green-cheeked conure, Spudley.

Logan can say four new words now: dog, out, mama, hi. They just come out at random times (except for mama, which he says at times of stress. Nice, eh?)

Today at the diner, some old dude waved goodbye, and Logan waved bye-bye.

We are making the switch to the crib this week. While it seems like it should be difficult--well, it is. We aren't getting much sleep. He wakes every 2-3 hours, and one of us has to go in and rock him. Sometimes we can just insert the bippy and pat his back. We're trying to avoid nursing him too much overnight as well. The goal is to try and habituate him to sleep through the night. We'll see!

In Sling

Rach bought this video on how to put your baby in your own type of sling with just a piece of fabric. The bjorn was getting to big for him anyway--and this works awesome. He likes it better--he can kick around, his arms are free, and it's more comfortable for mom and daddy. Not to mention it's easier to advertise his cuteness.

Hi everyone--Logan got weighed the other day. . .he's 19 pounds! He's also 27-1/4" tall! In another month or so we might be able to turn the car seat around. Then we can give him his binky without swerving all over the road.

Logan was EXTREMELY intrigued by the tactile experience of sand. Surprisingly, he didn't eat it.

He liked the sand way more than the ocean. When Mommy dipped his toes in the waves he cried--too cold, too strange. But he did seem to like the noise and the kids zipping in and out with their boogie boards.

Logan really loves his cousin. Every time Kasey comes into range he smiles and kicks and wants to play. And Kasey likes Logan, too. They got to spend a lot of time together this past week.

After the trip to Virginia, Logan began to improve on standing up and even cruising a little--but it made him instantly tired :)

Logan also got to see Aunt Kate and (future!) Uncle Jason at the mall when Rach went on her trip in mid-July. He was just learning to crawl then--more recent videos will show him crawling like a pro.

With Teeth

So I've been on a small mission to get a closeup of Logan's teeth. I thought about an x-ray machine, but that seemed extreme. There was good light this morning and, though he was jiggling and squirming and flapping around, I was able to snag this: he has 3 teeth (2 bottom, 1 top), plus one more on the top coming in!

Speaking of "daddy," Logan this morning decided that was his word of choice, along with its many permutations: "dadda, daddy, diddy, doody..." Pretty damn cool, if you ask me. Of course, I'm the diddy :)

NEW TOOTH IN THE FAMILY

As of TODAY, SUNDAY, JULY 1, 2007, there is a new tooth in the family! .0001 ounces, .01 inches, with a sharp head and causing some agony to its owner, its bound to have some brothers and sisters soon. We'll post a pic as soon as we can sneak a camera into Logan's mouth...:)

Here's a shot of him that shows a little devil in him... :)

He's rolling over at will now, and also attempting to move. He can lay on his belly and sort of spin around to a toy that's to the right or left of him. If we place something at a distance, he'll kick his legs, bring his knees up under him, and try to wiggle, but he gets tired quick. It's so strenuous trying to move!
